Hotel
Mildura is not
only the tourism capital of north-west Victoria, it also is a gateway to inland
areas. With a location on major thoroughfares to Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney
and the Australian Outback, tourism is a major economic driver for the region. But
while Mildura has spawned a seemingly unending roadside parade of motels and caravan
parks, due to historical planning issues, the city has only two hotels and a tavern
- none of which are on the Murray River.
The Dockside Mildura marina changes that - now Victoria's
vibrant north-west will have a tourism-focussed, 150-room
riverfront hotel and conference centre.
Final planning has been completed with construction
now starting.
